Resurrecting the Wednesday Word

This past weekend, I headed to the beach with some of my girlfriends for a proper farewell to summer. On the drive there, as well as the drive back, we indulged in one of our more silly guilty pleasures, namely listening to Lauren read a trashy romance aloud. The tradition started a few years ago, and has hung around ever since. It's actually quite enjoyable!

On this particular trip, we listened to the whimsy and woes of "Married to the Viscount." Among the true gems to be had in this rather lengthy novel, I have to admit my favorite part was the frequent use of the word "gimcrack."

Do you think I can get P-Diddy and Snoop Dogg to switch from "bling?"

gim·crack (jĭm'krāk')
n. A cheap and showy object of little or no use
adj. Cheap and tasteless; gaudy

    Also a word? Gimcrackery!

Hahahaha! I love it. I'm going to work it into a conversation at work tomorrow!

gimcrack is actually in my Wednesday word notebook between untrammeled, which I've used, and vinegary/vinegarish, which I haven't.

I forgot how much I missed the Wednesday word!
