Now I get to join the growing ranks of credit fraud victims.
Plus, I have the nasty task of checking my credit report more frequently to make sure nothing more sinister happens. And being an anxiety-ridden mess. My only comfort is that it was a credit card, not a debit card.
So, my darlings, 1)don't used your debit card with pin number to pay for stuff, 2)try not to let your credit card out of your sight (restaurants), and 3)pay close attention to that person on their cell phone only buying one thing and standing too close behind you at the store.
Now it's time for a freaking BIG piece of cake.

Ugh, that is the WORST. I'm not glad it happened, but glad it was a credit card. When we dealt with the identity theft issue, it affected our checkig account. Make sure you notify the credit bureaus so they can put on a fraud alert--it was free for 6 months, I think, when we did it. It's like a cast-iron chastity belt protecting your credit.
