A Letter to My Fear of Water

Dear Fear of Water,

Please pucker up and prepare to kiss my ass.

Love,
Crazy Sister #2

I thought I would be embarrassed to admit that I'm taking swimming lessons--I've always felt like I'm the only adult in the world who doesn't know how to swim--but after a week of classes, I'm excited, giddy and proud. There are 10 adults in my class and I'm not even the "weakest" when it comes to swimming skills. I did a pretty basic swim today across half of the pool. I'm still working on my breathing. It's strange to me to breathe in through my mouth and out through my nose, but I'm getting the hang of it. The back float still freaks me out a little, but I did it today, completely unassisted. The best part was at the end of class when we learned "glides". I did so well that the instructor had to come get me because I started swimming too close to the deep end without realizing it. Oops.

And ya'll, if you want to take swimming lessons, too, do it! Just get goggles. They make a world of difference. Last class, I was trying to do everything with my eyes closed because I don't like opening them underwater. I got goggles and was much more comfortable today.

Yay!
