I think if I was going to pick the Sesame Street character that I resemble most today, it would have to be Oscar the Grouch. After an extremely difficult month at work, I've about had it. I'm not upset with my boss or anything. I have no real reason to bash anyone. I'm just drained. Dealing with the problems of the world just gets to be too much sometimes. Abused children, neglectful parents, state requirements that sometimes interfere with helping both the children and the parents...it's a mire of red tape. The time spent satisfying state requirements could be better spent providing the care and support that these people so desperately need. I know that protocol is in place for a reason, but it's really getting on my nerves these days. Ah well.
On the upside, I should start sleeping better soon. After months of pleading and nagging on my part, my darling husband finally went to the doctor to find out if there was anything that could be done about his flailing limbs and earth-shaking snoring. Turns out he suffers from "abnormal involuntary leg movements" that's just one step short of Restless Legs Syndrome, and has a moderate case of sleep apnea. It's amazing what a sleep study can reveal. Now we at least know what's going on and can do something about it. Woo-hoo!
AND...I'm excited because I get to leave work early today! I actually get to spend some quality time with my munchkin. I can hardly wait. I'm watching the clock now, (im)patiently waiting for 12:30pm. Then I'm out the door!

I was going back to the apartment from my house the other night (I know, so confusing having so many places where I technically "live), and I saw REAL, LIVE Oscar the Grouch trash cans!!! It was amazing! And as Lindsey and I walked past, I half expected him to just pop out and start talking to us. When I shared this thought with Lindsey, she had this to say:
"Yeah, that would be awesome. Kind of scary, and I probably wouldn't tell anyone about it because they wouldn't believe a muppet in a trash can was talking to me --but still awesome."
lol.
