Worse Than A Dream

Is Knowing That You Are Awake

The voice woke me up. How do I know I was awake? I thought it was the alarm (set to turn on the radio), so I opened my eyes and looked at the clock. It was not the alarm. I looked hard at the time, imprinted the numbers in my mind--two more hours of sleep to be had was what I calculated in that split second--then I closed my eyes. And the voice asked me the same question again.

Fear is not cold.

The seconds it took to scream seemed like an hour. Who knew it would take so long? Just to scream?

So, of course, now it knows the answer to the question.

Now what am I going to do?

You're scaring me. I have to tell you, though, I once had an experience where my alarm clock (also set to play music) picked up a truck driver's CB radio. I was hearing a one-sided conversation and it scared the crap out of me. Who was the voice? And what did it want? And did your answer satisfy it? You can't post something like that and not give details!

I agree with Sister #2. What happened?!

Martha, I am not going to inquire if the "voice" is satisfied nor ask if it wants anything. In fact, I didn't even sleep in my room last night. I barely slept at all.

Worse than vague, sister.

Don't be a fraidy cat! If you ask what the voice wants/needs, and you get a clear answer, it won't bother you anymore and you'll be able to drift off to dreamland again!
